This privacy policy describes how MarkItDone ("we," "our," or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. By using MarkItDone, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication). You may also choose an account type (Individual or Coach).

Usage data
We collect data you enter into the app, including discipline tasks, completion records, streak data, and points. For coaches, this also includes team names, team codes, and member assignments.

Device data
We may collect basic device information such as operating system type and version to support app functionality and troubleshoot issues.

Push notifications
If you enable push notifications, we store a device token to deliver reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in the app settings or your device settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the MarkItDone app and its features
- Sync your data across sessions and devices
- Enable coach and team functionality, including progress tracking and leaderboards
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Improve and debug the app
- Respond to your support requests

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
- Google Firebase — database (Firestore), authentication, and push notifications. Firebase is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Expo (Expo Go / EAS) — app delivery and build infrastructure.

We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Coach and Team Data

If you join a team using a coach's invite code, your task completion data and points will be visible to your coach. Self-assigned personal tasks are private and are not shared with your coach. Coaches are responsible for using member data appropriately within their team context.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and task history will be removed from our systems within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of push notifications at any time

8. Children's Privacy

MarkItDone is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including Firebase Authentication with encrypted passwords and secure Firestore database rules. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
